Luminary Leadership is a Singapore-based leadership development consultancy. We are a young practice - but our methodology is not.

Built on the 70-20-10 principle, we believe that real leadership is developed through experience, not just instruction. Seventy percent of how leaders grow happens in the work itself - and that is precisely where we design.

Experience Is the Curriculum

Leadership is not built by listening to experts in a room. It is built by doing — navigating real challenges, making real decisions, and living with real consequences. We design learning environments where the work itself becomes the teacher, and every task is an opportunity to lead better.

Design Changes Everything

Most leadership training fails not because of poor content, but poor design. When development is disconnected from the actual work, learning evaporates the moment people leave the room. We are the masters of designing training that sticks.

Reflections Accelerate Growth

Experience alone does not develop leaders. A leader can repeat the same mistakes for years without growing if nobody creates the space to pause, examine, and reframe. Structured reflection - built deliberately into the design - is what transforms experience from something that merely happens into something that genuinely teaches.

Environment Shapes the Leader

Leaders do not develop in isolation. They grow through the communities they belong to, the challenges their environment surfaces, and the support structures around them. We design not just programmes, but the conditions — peer learning, role models, coaching, and progressive challenge — that make sustained leadership growth possible.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Jonathan Liu spent over a decade designing and leading leadership development in one of Singapore's most demanding operational environments - the Republic of Singapore Navy. As a Commanding Officer and institutional leader, he developed hundreds of frontline leaders through carefully architected experiences embedded in real work, under genuine pressure, at real cost.

Today, Jonathan brings that same design philosophy to organisations across Singapore and the region. He believes leadership potential exists in every person - and that the right environment, challenge, and reflection can unlock it. His work sits at the intersection of instructional design, experiential learning, and leadership practice.

Jonathan is an Associate Certified Coach with ICF, a certified training (ACTA) and a certified Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner. He holds a Master of Arts (Instructional Design & Technology) from NIE
